Getting started

Your first day in InsideLife Lagos: signing in, your character, the controls, and how to get around the city.

Sign in

Open InsideLife in your browser at playinsidelife.cleset.com, or in the app on your phone. Choose how to sign in:

• Continue with Google, on every device.
• Continue with Apple, on an iPhone and in the browser (not on Android).
• Use email: "Create your account" with your email and a password of at least 8 characters, or "Welcome back" to sign in again. "Forgot password?" sends you a reset link.

Make your character

Choose a name (3 to 20 letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens or underscores) and a body, then tap Start playing. You can change your outfit later with the Style app, among the clothes you own.

Your first minutes

You start on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, with ₦5,000 in your wallet. That is enough for food and a few danfo rides, not yet for rent, so your first job is to earn. Earning money shows how.

On screen:

• Top left: the minimap. It shows you, other players, places and your route. Tap it to open Maps.
• Top right: your phone, the menu and your balance. When money comes in or goes out you see it there for a moment.
• Bottom: the address of where you are standing.
• Near your right thumb: buttons that appear only when you can use them: Drive, Ride, Get in, Get out, Horn, Radio, and the yellow action for the place you are at (Collect fare, Buy food, Enter home).

Controls on a computer

Key	What it does
W A S D or the arrows	Walk. In a vehicle: accelerate, brake and steer.
Shift	Run.
Space	Jump. In a vehicle: handbrake.
Mouse drag, or Q and E	Turn the camera. The mouse wheel zooms.
F	Drive a vehicle you are standing next to. Get out when it has stopped.
G	Ride as a passenger (danfo, BRT, keke, okada, taxi), or get into another player's car.
Y	Let a player who asks into your car.
H	Horn.
R	Next radio station, while you drive.
C or B	The yellow action for where you are: Collect fare, Buy food, Enter home, Enter shop.
M	Open or close Maps.
Enter	Open Messages to chat, and send.
Esc	Put the phone away.

Controls on a phone

• Walk: the stick at the bottom left. Push it to the edge to run.
• Look around: drag anywhere on the screen.
• Jump: the button at the bottom right.
• Drive: steer with the left and right pads at your left thumb, and use Gas and Brake at your right. Hold Brake when stopped to reverse.
• Everything else: tap the buttons as they appear: Drive, Ride, Get in, Get out, Horn, Radio and the yellow action.

Getting around Lagos

Ride as a passenger

Walk up to a danfo, BRT bus, keke, okada or taxi that has stopped, and tap Ride (G). You take a seat and pay the fare as it moves off. Fares in Lagos:

Drive

Stand next to a vehicle that has stopped and tap Drive (F). To buy your own, open the Cars app: brand-new cars are sold on Akin Adesola Street, tokunbo in Oshodi and Lekki. Your own car uses fuel, shown on screen while you drive. When it runs low, the Cars app or Maps takes you to the nearest filling station.

Go inside

Homes, shops and the airport terminals have a door. Walk up to it on foot and tap the yellow action (C): Enter home, Enter shop, Enter the terminal. At Eko Grand, walk in through the lobby; book a room in the Hotels app.
